The tenant is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and removing blockages and obstructions in baths, showers, sinks, lavatories, cisterns, etc.
Showers
Clean the seal around the shower to prevent black mould appearing which can damage the seal. Ensure glass around the shower and tiles are cleaned regularly.
To prevent water leaks onto the floor:
- keep shower curtains inside the bath
- keep shower doors closed. Do not leave the door open while waiting for it to heat.
- Use shower mats. Ensure you have a spare one when another is drying.
Contact us immediately if you notice leaks or blockages you cannot deal with.
Waste
Be very careful about waste put down WCs, shower trays, or sinks. Misuse or negligence can block drains or units, which is the tenant’s responsibility.
Macerator toilets
Macerator toilets have a 1 inch pipe and can only handle human waste and toilet paper. Please contact us if you have blockages. If these are caused by tenant or visitor negligence, they will be rectified at the tenant’s expense.
Macerator toilets will not handle hard objects, nappies, sanitary towels, cotton wool, fabric, tampons, condoms, wet wipes, and kitchen towels. Avoid aggressive chemicals such as paint stripper and acid/solvents. Do not use block cleaners fitted to the WC pan – they can fall into the toilet and block the unit.
