General kitchen use advice.
Kettles
Lime scale can build up on electric kettles. This is harmless but can be removed by using a kettle de-scaler from most supermarkets.
Ovens
Some ovens have automatic timers which prevent the oven from working. Consult the oven manual for timer deactivation instructions.
Induction hobs
All properties provide electric induction hobs. These only work with induction pots, pans, and woks.
Extractor fans
Clean metal filter or replace other filters in extractors at least every six months. These can be purchased online by searching for the make and model.
Dishwashers
Use dishwasher salt in order for dishes to be cleaned properly. To top up the salt, open the circular screw knob inside the machine and fill with the recommended amount of salt.
Rinse aid is added to a special compartment on the door of the machine. A small amount is released during the final hot rinse cycle to avoid smears on glasses and cookware.
Clean the filters on a regular basis to avoid clogging.
Fridge and freezer
In order to keep you fridge and/or freezer working properly, defrost and clean the appliance regularly. Use all your food supplies before. Leave appliance doors open to defrost.
When defrosting:
- switch off the freezer
- open the door
- place towels and pans inside and outside the freezer to collect water
- do not scrape or chip at ice
